Globe Lights
Colored vs. Clear Christmas Tree Globe Lights
It seems everyone has an opinion on Christmas tree lights and which kind they think is best. From mini lights to larger bulbs to globe lights, everyone has their own type that they prefer. But if you ask someone, “Which is better, clear or colored lights?” then plan on getting an earful. It may sound insignificant to some, but there have been very heated debates over which type of light is superior. If you can’t decide which to go for this year – clear or colored lights – then read on to find out what each side of the debate is saying.
Clear lights
People in the clear light camp have a lot to say about their beloved white lights. For some, it’s a matter of practicality, while others cite simple elegance as their reason for choosing clear lights. It’s true that clear lights go with virtually everything. It doesn’t matter what your color scheme is, what type of ornaments you have, or if you want to include any garlands or tinsel on your tree – all of it will look good with white lights. There’s no reason to worry about matching the lights with the ornaments, so it’s a more practical choice than the multi-colored lights. Other reasons given for choosing clear lights are that these lights best imitate the glow of real candles, which can give a room a cozy and warm feeling, and that white lights can be used at other times of the year.
Colored lights
Proponents of colored lights also have a lot to say about their multi-hued choice. The primary reason given for opting for colored lights is that these are just more fun, plain, and simple. The reds, blues, greens, golds, and other colors are playful and fun, and they add a lot of cheer not only to the Christmas tree, but to the room as a whole. Colored lights also have a way of transporting you back to childhood, because these were the lights that so many people had growing up. And, if you ask any kid which type of light is better, 99.9% of them will choose colored lights. Why? Because they’re pretty and fun!
So have you decided yet what type of lights to choose this year? White lights are classic and have a certain elegance about them, plus they’re a more practical choice. Colored lights, on the other hand, are just plain fun. Gazing at the different colors just brings back happy memories of the Christmas season and makes you smile. Of course, if you still can’t choose, you could always do a combination of both, or you could really go all out and put up two trees – one with clear lights and one with colored lights. Another option would be to go with colored lights, just pick ones that are all the same color. For instance, let’s say your ornaments are primarily gold and silver. Choosing all red Christmas lights will make those colors pop, and give your tree a unique look.
Whether you decide on clear or colored lights, you know you’ll have a beautiful finished product, full of pretty ornaments and accented by the glow of twinkling lights.
