Tree Storage & Hangers
Christmas Tree Storage Tips
There’s a certain magic that comes with getting out your Christmas tree each season, adding twinkling lights, and hanging your favorite ornaments on its branches. Unfortunately, when the holidays are over and it’s time to pack up all the decorations, the magic is no longer there. Most people would agree that putting away the Christmas tree and all the other decorations is a huge chore, and it’s definitely not something that is looked forward to. However, there are a few tips that can be followed to make this task a little less unpleasant and ensure that your tree is properly stowed away for next year.
The main question you need to ask yourself is what kind of storage device you want to use for your tree. Your options include the box the tree came in, a plastic storage bag that is specially designed for Christmas trees, and even sturdy canvas bags. Some storage containers are even capable of holding a fully decorated tree, so you never have to worry about taking it apart, setting it up, and decorating again. For most people, however, a basic storage container will work. Let’s take a closer look at your options.
Christmas tree box
Many people wind up using the tree’s own box as their permanent storage solution, and there’s really nothing wrong with this, provided the box is in good shape. If you’ve got a sturdy box that is still holding together nicely, then go ahead and use it. You know the tree will fit in it, and it can be easily stowed in your basement, attic, or storage closet. Keep in mind, though, that cardboard will deteriorate over time, and it’s very susceptible to water damage. If the box gets wet, develops holes or tears, or just begins falling apart in general, then it’s time to replace it with a more long-term solution. All of these problems with the box will lead to damage to your Christmas tree, shortening its life span.
Plastic storage bag
Plastic Christmas tree storage bags are very popular for wrapping up trees until the next holiday season. These bags are very durable and convenient, and you can buy them at most stores selling trees and other holiday decorations. Once you’ve broken down your Christmas tree into its smaller sections, simply place them in the bag, zip it up, and your tree will be safe and sound until next year. These bags are water- and bug-proof, so you don’t have to worry about any damage occurring.
Canvas storage bag
This storage solution is very similar to the plastic storage bag, with the main difference being in the material uses. Some people prefer canvas bags for storing their Christmas trees because there’s rarely any reason to worry about the bag ever ripping or tearing. These bags are incredibly durable, and while they’re not entirely waterproof, they will keep your tree very safe. If you decide to use a canvas storage bag, make sure you keep it in a place that’s dry so you don’t have to be concerned with moisture damage to your tree.
There are lots of ways to store your Christmas tree, but using the above information on storage devices will help you choose what’s best for your tree. You want many years of use from your holiday tree, so care for it properly and you won’t need to replace it for quite some time.
